Viper entered the studio in September to record a new version of one of their greatest hits: “To Live Again”. The 2019 version, titled “To Live Again (Redux)”, will be released 30 years after the original song's release. In 1989, Theatre of Fate was released , an album considered a landmark of Brazilian and world heavy metal, which included “To Live Again” among its greatest hits. The song will be available on all digital platforms from October 25, 2019.
The new version of “To Live Again (Redux)” recorded by Viper & Guests was produced by Guilherme Canaes, who has worked with bands such as Angra, Shaman, and Symphony X , among others. The sessions took place at OM studio in São Paulo, and mastering was handled by the renowned Tony Lindgren , sound engineer at Fascination Street Recording Studios in Sweden. Executive production is by Top Link Music, and the single artwork was created by J.Duarte Design studio.
“Recording a new version of 'To Live Again' was an incredible experience. Not only because of the contribution of other musicians, but also because we were able to pay attention to the music from a compositional point of view. And what struck me is that 'To Live Again', like the other songs on the album 'Theatre of Fate', is extremely current. It seems like Pit wrote the song yesterday, when in fact it's already 30 years old,” says guitarist Felipe Machado .
“To Live Again (Redux)” has been given a makeover not only in arrangement and sound, but has also gained a completely new instrumental section that promises to ignite live performances thanks to the presence of two drummers on stage: drummers Guilherme Martin and Ricardo Confessori will play the new version live together during the 'Celebration Tour' shows.
The Latin expression 'Redux' means 'brought back' or 'back to the origin'.
The music video for 'To Live Again (Redux)' was directed and edited by Leo Liberti, from the international production company Libertà Films. Known to Brazilian audiences for directing music videos such as Megadeth and Angra Leo Liberti has won numerous awards in Brazil and abroad. In addition to two Latin Grammys and eleven nominations at international festivals, the young Brazilian director has won six Golden Lions at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France and four CLIO Awards in the United States.
