The album is part of a project by the drummer and his brother

Vinny Appice spoke with Metal Nexus about the new project he created with his brother Carmine . The group bears his name and released its first album in October 2017.

Sinister features 13 tracks, one of which, "Monsters and Heroes," the drummer revealed was written as a tribute to Ronnie James Dio . "It's a tribute to him. It's a song written by people who worked with him and were his friends," he said during the interview.

The song is part of a project he's been planning for a while: "We never had the time to organize the ideas, but now is the time. Now we can focus on it and have fun."

Sinister was released by SPV/Steamhammer and marks the brothers' first collaborative work.
