Legendary drummer Vinny Appice shared his perspective on the relationship between Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio .

Over the years, there have always been rumors of a possible rivalry between the two. Something he has completely denied.

In the Trunk Nation [via Metal Injection ], Appice stated that the two got along very well and that the Madman always spoke highly of Ronnie.

“Ozzy always told me how much he loved Ronnie. Everyone created this thing that they hated each other, but he talked about it all the time. Things get blown out of proportion on the internet and you don’t know what the truth is, or what’s really going on.”

“He used to sit and tell me about Ronnie too. You know, that he really liked him and this and that. And there are some pictures on the internet where they are together, one of them seems to be at a festival. They are there, together.”

According to the artist, Osbourne also praised his older brother and fellow drummer, Carmine Appice . The vocalist would say things like "I love your brother," and these words were frequent, maintaining his feelings in the following days.

Eddie Trunk also gave his opinion on Vinny Appice's statement and Ozzy's relationship with Dio.

The show's host, Eddie Trunk , expressed surprise when commenting on the relationship between the two iconic Black Sabbath .

According to the music historian, over the years, the prevailing narrative was that there was tension between the singers.

"That's interesting about Ronnie because you're right, the idea presented was that there was something there."

Vinny Appice did not record albums with Ozzy Osbourne , but alongside Dio, he released great classics such as Holy Diver (1983) and The Last in Line (1984).

In Sabbath, the Americans were part of the lineup for Mob Rules (1981) and Dehumanizer (1992).
