The musician also revealed his future plans.
During Kiss Expo 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia, former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent made his first public appearance in over 20 years.
Interviewed at the event, the musician spoke about his departure from Kiss, the legal battles he had with the band, and shared how his life is currently.
“I spent 20 years in hell ,” he confesses, “And it was my hell, nobody knew about it. I watched the world spinning and heard everything they said about me, what the band said about me, and it was a shame. I mean, I think we could have been a great band, we still can be. The magic never ended. I still love them.”
Vincent also said that the lawsuit he filed against the band for royalties from the tracks he composed was a necessary evil. "I tried to resolve this, I tried for four years ," he revealed, saying that when he realized the band wasn't interested in reaching a consensus where Vincent could benefit, he had to file the lawsuit.
“I had a family and I didn’t have the money to take care of them or to buy a house. There was no future for me in the band and I needed to take care of my family ,” he confesses.
The musician goes on to say that he did what he needed to do to help himself and his family, but the band didn't see it and didn't accept any of the solutions he presented.
The dispute resulted in legal proceedings in which Vincent sought to receive the royalties he deserved for his compositions. The guitarist wrote eight of the ten tracks that make up the album Lick It Up , the first the band released without the use of their famous makeup.
Speaking about his future plans, Vinnie says he spends his days with his family, his dogs, and composing. “ I play all day. I'm composing, recording. I have a very private and calm life now, and I haven't had that in a long time,” he continues, adding that if the fans want him back, he will return; otherwise, he is very happy with the life he has today.
