The estate of Pantera drummer Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott released a statement in support of the upcoming Pantera shows, but made it clear that this is not a reunion.
The band Pantera resumed activities in August , announcing that they would be coming to Latin America for the first shows of the project. Fans and musicians have debated whether this project is a tribute or a Pantera reunion, since it features two of the original members: Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown . Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante will replace Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, respectively.
Amid the discussion, the estate of the late drummer Vinnie Paul released a statement supporting the tribute to the brothers, but reiterating that "There can never be a Pantera reunion without Vinnie and Dime."
“However, there’s no better way to celebrate and honor Vinnie and Dime’s legacy than by bringing Pantera’s music directly to the fans. We are honored that Charlie and Zakk, their very close friends and musical brothers, will share the stage with Philip and Rex to showcase the power of Pantera live to the whole world.”
The first show of the tour will be on December 2nd in Mexico. A few days later, the group will come to Brazil to take the stage in São Paulo on December 15th and 18th, at Knotfest Brasil and in a solo show .
