In an interview during the Maximus Festival in São Paulo, Pantera and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul spoke about Phil Anselmo's actions earlier in the year, where the vocalist made a Nazi salute and shouted 'white power' .
Because Phil Anselmo's explosion of white power cannot be ignored
Vinnie commented: “I can’t speak for him. He did a lot to damage the image of what Pantera was back then, what we were and what we stood for. And that’s sad. But I continue doing what I do, which is Hellyeah, which I’m very proud of. And you know, I can’t control anything that happens with that guy. Honestly, I haven’t spoken to him since 2000. So, that’s it.”
The drummer also spoke about not having spoken to Anselmo since their last show together in 2001, when asked about the last words the musicians exchanged: “It’s been a long time, man. Probably at the last show we did, in Tokyo. It must have been 'goodbye' or something like that. I don’t know.”
Finally, Vinnie Paul once again made it clear that a Pantera reunion is out of the question: “For me personally, it ended when Pantera ended. A lot of people don’t understand that. There are reasons why the band isn’t together anymore. And with my brother no longer here, there’s no reunion for that band, period.”
