On the afternoon of Monday the 10th, a serious accident involving the plane of Vince Neil , lead singer of Mötley Crüe , resulted in the death of one person at Scottsdale Airport in the state of Arizona. The incident occurred when the aircraft attempted to land and collided with another plane parked on the runway.
Shortly after the news broke, the band's manager, Allen Kovac , confirmed to TMZ that Vince was not on the plane and is safe. However, the singer's girlfriend, Rain Andreani , and a friend were on board and suffered injuries.
Rain reportedly fractured five ribs, and both were taken to the hospital. The co-pilot was also rescued, while the pilot died due to the impact.
Investigations into Vince Neil's plane
The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the case is under investigation. Airport authorities indicated that, preliminarily, a failure in the left main landing gear was the cause of the collision.
Vince Neil's representative, Worrick Robinson , issued an official statement on Tuesday morning, the 11th, through the band's social media:
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet Model 35A aircraft owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the aircraft veered off the runway, causing a collision with another parked aircraft. On board were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the aircraft.”
“Further specific details about the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and an investigation is underway. Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical assistance of all the first responders who helped today.”
According to TMZ , the airport runways were temporarily closed to allow emergency crews to work.
Vince Neil's manager also stated that the musician's heart goes out to the victim's family, adding that the band intends to offer support in the coming days. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude that Rain Andreani and her friend are safe, despite their injuries.
