Vimic , the band of drummer Joey Jordison , who died in 2021 at the age of 46, announced an exclusive show.
The show, presented by the Joey Jordison Charitable Fund , will take place in Los Angeles on October 3rd at the Teragram Ballroom. The performance will not only honor Joey's memory but also celebrate the release of the band's debut album.
The announced show was made possible thanks to a fundraising campaign launched by the late drummer's family on what would have been his 50th birthday.
The campaign raised over US$95,000 (R$535,000 reais at the current exchange rate) to fund the release of Vimic's highly anticipated debut album, Open Your Omen .
Vimic will be supported by Wednesday 13 , who worked with Joey Jordison in the band Murderdolls, as well as some very special guests. Exclusive event merchandise will also be available.
Tickets will go on sale starting Friday, June 6th through the Ticketmaster website.
The proceeds from the event will benefit the Joey Jordison Charity Fund's partnership with Broken Strings , a nonprofit organization in Iowa that distributes guitars to children in each school district. The family would like to do the same, but with drums.
VIMIC and the debut album Open Your Omen
Vimic, formed in 2013, is a band that emerged from Scar the Martyr shortly after Joey left Slipknot. The initial lineup featured Joey Jordison on drums, Kalen Chase on vocals, Jed Simon and Kris Norris on guitars, Kyle Konkiel on bass, and Matthew Tarach on keyboards. In 2017, Steve Marshall replaced Norris.
Between 2016 and 2017, the band released four singles from the album:
“Simple Skeletons”, “She Sees Everything”, “My Fate” and “Fail Me (My Temple)”, the latter featuring Dave Mustaine from Megadeth .
Mustaine praised the project and invited them to open for Megadeth on their South American tour in 2017. Two of the few shows Vimic performed took place in Brazil.
Open Your Omen was a personal project for Joey Jordison, as he told Revolver in 2017 [transcription via Blabbermouth ]:
“We started this album when I was recovering from acute transverse myelitis. It was literally what saved me and helped me get back to being healthier than ever. These guys and this album encouraged me not only to relearn how to walk, but also to play drums again. Open Your Omen is the rebirth of the rest of my life .”
