In an exclusive interview with Metal Hammer, Ville Valo commented again on the possibility of a HIM, explaining that all members remain friends despite the band's breakup.
The musician explained that contact between the band members has decreased over time, but "I would love to play with the guys again someday." According to him, this makes any immediate move toward a reunion difficult.
“I miss those guys. They’re my brothers. But there’s also beauty in the fact that we didn’t strangle each other at the end, or start traveling in separate limousines. So, there’s that to be said. I felt it was the right way to bury the corpse. He was and is my life. It was very difficult to let go of that.”
Ville Valo also reflected on the band's end: “The bittersweet side of it all was that we were still good friends. We had just drifted apart. Regarding the farewell tour, it was good to play when we had a set date for the end. By setting the final date in advance, we didn't need to have reservations. Each night felt like the last, in a way.”
HIM's farewell show took place at Tavastia in Helsinki, Finland, on New Year's Eve 2017. As one of the most commercially successful Finnish rock bands, HIM was initially active from 1991 to 1993, before reuniting in 1995 and returning to the stage in 2017. After the band's split, Valo began a solo career under the pseudonym VV. The musician was in Brazil in November 2023 for a single performance as part of the promotion of his solo album Neon Noir.
