The band Venamoris , a project by Dave Lombardo and his wife, Paula Lombardo , announces the release of the single "In The Shadows," signed by Ipecac Recordings .
The legendary drummer, who made history with his compositions in Slayer, Testament, Mr. Bungle, and Misfits , founded the musical project Venamoris in 2021, still during the pandemic, alongside his wife, Paula Lombardo.
Venamoris released their debut album in 2023, titled Drown In Emotion , featuring guest appearances by guitarists Tyler Bates ( Marilyn Manson ), George Pajon ( Black Eyed Peas ), and Tim Stewart ( Lady Gaga ); as well as bassists Roberto Díaz ( Korn, Suicidal Tendencies ) and Jack Gibson ( Exodus ).
Regarding “In The Shadows”, Paula states that it is a song that emerged from real-life feelings: “The pulsating drums evoke moving forward, even when inner turmoil is still close. It’s a call to self-acceptance with the weight of a life well-lived” (via Blabbermouth ).

Venamoris and the intimacy of the project
In an interview with Blabbermouth , Dave Lombardo states that Venamoris is, in addition to being a project of "astral influence," something intimate for the couple's life.
Preparing for the release of his 3rd studio album, after Drown in Emotion and The Gift b/w Holiday Spell , the drummer recounts that just several months after meeting Paula, in 2010, he discovered his career as a backing vocalist for singer Wayne Newton .
Dave recounts that Paula had shown him some demos she had recorded over the years: “I was impressed by her rich and sonically smooth tone, as well as her natural and instinctive ability to harmonize.” Excited by his then-girlfriend's recordings, he spoke about his determination to convince her to return to the music industry through the project.
Paula Lombardo, who was born in Canada, is also a pianist and has always shown an inclination towards the musical world. With an intense vocal style, Dave's wife also composes the piano lines, while the drummer also remains at the forefront of musical production.

In an interview with Metal Hammer , Lombardo says he doesn't believe it's possible he'll be invited to Slayer's return to the stage.
When asked about his willingness to rejoin the legendary thrash metal band, the drummer said he was still open to hearing any offer: "Yes, I would listen to what they had to say." Concluding the matter, he stated that he couldn't comment further.
Dave Lombardo left the American band in 2013, going on to work with several others such as Suicidal Tendencies, Fantômas, Grip Inc., Voodoocult, Testament, Apocalyptica and, to this day, Misfits .
