Donald Trump turned to Truth Social – a social network that defends freedom of expression – last Monday, the 19th, to demand an investigation into Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Beyoncé, and Oprah Winfrey.
The current president of the United States accused artists of accepting campaign money to support, as well as perform at, the rally of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in 2024.
The president wrote, in capital letters [Transcription via Ultimate Classic Rock ]: “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HIS PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE'S SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN'T THAT A LARGE AND ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE CAMPAIGN? AND BEYONCE? … AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH AND BONO???”
He continued: “I will request a thorough investigation into this matter. Candidates cannot pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the pretext of paying for entertainment. Furthermore, it was a very expensive and desperate attempt to artificially inflate her meager audience. IT IS NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic 'artists,' this was just a CORRUPT and ILLEGAL way to profit from a broken system. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!”
Discussion between Donald Trump and Bruce Springsteen
The argument between Bruce Springsteen and Trump began last Wednesday, the 14th, during the start of Springsteen's tour in Manchester, England.
The American singer and guitarist harshly criticized Trump's "corrupt, incompetent, and treacherous administration" and declared: "All those who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience must stand with us, raise their voices against authoritarianism, and make freedom resound."
Trump then responded via the Truth Social network, referring to him as "highly overrated."
"I never liked him, I never liked his music, nor his radical left-wing politics, and above all, he's not a talented guy."
Trump also threatened the music star, who is currently touring Europe, saying he should "KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he returns to the country."
