Rolling Stone magazine shared 13 previously unseen photos of The Beatles taken by Jim Marshall. The photographs show rare moments of the band during their famous concert held on the rooftop of Apple Corps headquarters in London on January 30, 1969.
The images show moments of relaxation between John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison , and Ringo Starr. Besides marking the Beatles' last public performance, the show served as part of the recordings for the project that would later become the album Let It Be. The photos are part of the book The Beatles by Jim Marshall: Live at Candlestick Park 1966.
Without prior announcement, the Beatles surprised employees and passersby by going up onto the roof of the Apple Corps building for an impromptu performance that quickly attracted the attention of those passing through central London at the time.
The photographs capture little-known behind-the-scenes moments from the show. In one of them, Ringo Starr is seen giving an interview to journalist Marilyn Doerfler in an indoor area of the San Francisco Giants stadium. Another image shows George Harrison meeting Pauline Baez, sister of singer Joan Baez, who was present at the event alongside her sister Mimi Baez.
