Ticket prices for concerts in Brazil are among the highest on the market, and producers point to the main factors behind this increase.
One example is the Iron Maiden show , scheduled for October 25th and 27th at Allianz Parque in São Paulo. The band is in a stable position in their career, with shows showing little variation in their structure. However, ticket prices increased by 49% between 2022, when they played at MorumBIS, and 2025, when ticket sales for this show began. [via g1 ]
Why has it increased so much?
In an interview with g1 , event producers, who wished to remain anonymous, listed several factors that justify the high price of tickets in Brazil.
One of the reasons cited is the half-price ticket law, which only exists in Brazil. It obliges promoters to offer up to 40% of tickets at a discount, forcing an increase in the full-price ticket to balance the costs of the event.
Another critical point is the Brazilian tax burden, which directly affects artist fees and logistical expenses, resulting in more taxes being passed on to the consumer in the final ticket price.
"So, to bring in an artist, there needs to be a minimum value that justifies those costs. And, to reach that value, it's necessary to charge a relatively high average ticket price. Taking into account, also, the issue of half-price tickets," explained one of the producers interviewed.
Furthermore, convenience and service fees applied during online purchases further increase the amounts paid by the public, adding between 20% and 30% to the base price of tickets.
Furthermore, according to g1, Procon-SP reported that "since 2023, it has already issued 3 fines against Q2 Ingressos, Eventim Brasil, and T4F Entretenimento. And, at this moment, it has an ongoing investigation into the improper charging of fees."
This scenario reflects a market where costs, regulations, and sales practices make concerts expensive for the Brazilian public. However, the problem isn't unique to Brazil.
“I always tell everyone… Before you start complaining, look at how much other fans in the United States are paying, which is truly the most expensive market. That's where artists have the best time, where they'll earn the most, it's going to be in the USA. Lower taxes, a bigger market, higher prices, better infrastructure to host shows,” said the producer.
