Underoath is expected to come to Brazil in 2024, according to journalist José Norberto Flesch.
The Florida hardcore band is not currently touring, but according to Flesch, the band is expected to return in January 2024.
Underoath is a screamo/post-hardcore band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1997. The band's most recent release is the album Voyeurist, from 2022.
In an interview with Revolver, vocalist Spencer Chamberlain spoke about the personal problems he faced during the band's hiatus between 2013 and 2016, and revealed that Underoath decided to abandon religious labels in order to save their careers.
“I don’t care what kind of religion you follow, that has nothing to do with the point. It has nothing to do with a group in communion moving together, it’s about a bunch of people growing on their own. There was a lot of pressure, and everything you did, you were crucified for it – no pun intended. You couldn’t do anything without making someone angry. People don’t realize how much that weighs on your shoulders.”
“My drug problem was very openly discussed publicly, and the entire Christian community hated me. I was going through a difficult time, and all I received was hate; like, all that happened was people telling me how much of a piece of shit I was all the time. That's not love, that's not comforting. The period of my life in which I felt most alone and isolated was the time during which I considered myself a Christian, personally.”
He continued: “Because I had real problems going on in my life and nobody could talk to me about it. There was no help. There was nothing. It was just 'hide it, don't talk about it because if you talk then you're not a Christian and the band can't continue' and that's so out of touch with reality. It was taking us in opposite directions and making everything very toxic and I had a huge problem saying that this was a Christian band.”
