The heavy riffs of Unabomber resonate amidst the furious lyrics of "Carrossel," the group's new song.
The song offers a provocative reflection on the cycle of death, neglect, and disillusionment in Brazil in recent years, especially amidst a pandemic. A prominent name in the Rio de Janeiro underground scene since the 1990s, the group once again turns to its political and social potential with a song for current times.
Explaining the concept behind the song, the group commented in a statement released to the press: “The initial idea for 'Carrossel' was a lighter theme, in a sunny setting, that would remind us of a time of peace. But we were living through one of the most dramatic moments of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
"The lyrics were then redirected amidst the suffering of Brazilians suffocating without oxygen, while a genocidal leader joked and staged a macabre play. Beyond the destruction of culture, science, and our biomes. It was in this climate of hopelessness that 'Carrossel' was created, but with the certainty that this nightmare will end," the band summarizes.
Originating from the Baixada Fluminense region and formed by André Luz (vocals), Alan Vieira (bass), Sandro Luz (guitar) and Paulo Stocco (drums), Unabomber debuted in 1996 with a self-titled demo tape.
