Roger Waters , former bassist of Pink Floyd , once again took a political stance by speaking virtually to the UN Security Council about the war in Ukraine. At 81 years old, the musician appealed for peace, criticizing the prolongation of the conflict and the role of Western leaders.

Waters began his speech by ironically addressing questions about his authority to speak on politics and emphasized his commitment to the themes of the speech. "I may only be a musician, but I'm here to talk about war, peace, and love, and those are my credentials," he stated.

During his speech, he also condemned the Russian invasion, but stated that the war could have been avoided through diplomacy. Waters also directed criticism at former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson , accusing him of sabotaging peace negotiations. In an unexpected move, he praised Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin , claiming that both were promoting sensible talks to end the conflict.

Despite the controversies, Waters maintained a hopeful tone when speaking about the possibility of a peaceful solution to the war. He also commented on Palestine, suggesting that the conflict in the region deserves greater attention. Known for his political engagement, Waters continues to generate heated debates about his stance and statements on the international stage.
