U2 inaugurated an arena for concerts, events, and games in the shape of a giant sphere in Las Vegas, United States. The performance took place last Friday, the 29th .

The Sphere MSG, which boasts the world's largest LED screen, seats 20,000. The screen features 160,000 LED lights, and 164,000 speakers are spread throughout the venue, along with 4D technology.

The Sphere is the brainchild of Jim Dolan, executive chairman of Madison Square Garden and owner of the New York Knicks and Rangers. The venue is 111 meters high and 157 meters wide.

The band will be doing a 25-show residency at the venue until the end of the year. This was also the first show without drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who was absent due to health problems. He was replaced by Dutchman Bram van den Berg, from the band Krezip.
