Type O Negative is negotiating a reunion show in honor of Peter Steele.

Former guitarist Kenny Hickey talks to agents about a tribute show with special guests.

The remaining original members of Type O Negative are negotiating a reunion show to honor Peter Steele , who died on April 14, 2010, from a gastrointestinal illness called diverticulitis.

In an interview with Loaded Radio , Kenny Hickey , former guitarist of Type O Negative, said there are talks about joining the other band members and guest musicians for a show [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “Yeah, yeah. A lot of people are approaching us. There are a lot of agents [contacting us]. There’s money in it, so the higher the value goes, the more they’ll chase us.”

Furthermore, according to Hickey, former keyboardist Josh Silver is unwilling to commit to a Peter Steele tribute project because he spends a lot of time working as a paramedic in New York. “Josh is really, at the moment, very resistant. But we'll see. We don't know what's going to happen.
Josh is about to retire [from his job as a paramedic], so we don't know what's going to happen. It all depends on how much it's worth and how much will be shown [in front of us],” said Kenny Hickey.

The new lead singer of Type O Negative

Regarding having a specific singer to lead Type O Negative at the show in question, or even on tours, Kenyy said:

“No, no. It’s a very difficult thing to understand. If something actually comes to fruition, then I really start thinking about it and painting over it, because there’s [also] the issue of the bass.
Peter’s bass was more unique than his vocals. Deep, baritone vocals—a lot of people with deep voices could do that and roll their Rs… But his bass line was very, very unique.”

Type O Negative is an American gothic metal band formed in 1989, known for its unique blend of metal, doom, and alternative rock. The band disbanded in 2010 following the death of Peter Steele, leaving behind a legacy of seven studio albums.
