Dee Snider's retirement has cancelled his shows in Brazil
In February, Twisted Sister canceled all scheduled dates for their reunion tour celebrating the band's 50th anniversary, including their headlining performance at Bangers Open Air, which would have marked their return to the stage for the first time since 2016.
The reason was Dee Snider's forced retirement from the stage, as he deals with health problems stemming from degenerative arthritis. In a recent interview, the vocalist said he heeded his children's request not to go on tour. "I'm not going to die anytime soon. But I'm dealing with problems that, if I don't solve them, could kill me," he commented.
“My children sat with me and asked me to stop or I would end up killing myself. Some were crying. They know what I'm like. I couldn't just stand still on stage. We even tried to create a situation with the band where I would have people accompanying me the whole time, but my own manager knew that wouldn't be enough,” he concluded.
The chosen vocalist for Twisted Sister at some shows was Sebastian Bach, who said he received Dee Snider's "total blessing" in a phone conversation. "We talked for about 45 minutes and we were both kind of emotional. Then he said, 'You have my total blessing.' He continued, 'I love you.' I said I loved him, and we both got teary-eyed," said Sebastian [transcription via Blabbermouth].
