Tuomas Holopainen , of Nightwish , has revealed that he is working on new music with his former black metal band Darkwoods My Betrothed and plans to release it sometime before the end of this year.

The Finnish keyboardist made three studio albums with the group in the 1990s, before joining Nightwish and becoming one of the biggest metal musicians in Europe. Now, with downtime due to the pandemic, he has reconnected with his bandmates.

Tuomas says that they became great friends and meet every year, always talking about getting the band back together, but they never managed to put their plans into practice until now. “In July 2020 we thought it was now or never. With the current situation, we finally have time to work on it.”

Unlike Nightwish, where Tuomas is the main composer, in Darkwoods My Betrothed he will only handle the keyboards, leaving the composition to his bandmates. Speaking about this, he revealed that before Nightwish he was "just a studio musician." "That's the dynamic with them and that's how we're going to do it," he added.

Besides Tuomas, Darkwoods My Betrothed consists of Jouni 'Hallgrim' Mikkonen on guitar, Teemu 'Hexenmeister' Kautonen on bass, and Pasi 'Emperor Nattasett' Kankkunen on vocals.
