Tuatha de Danann celebrates Minas Gerais history in the lyric video for "Conjura"; watch it here.

The group released a historic video celebrating the 230th anniversary of the Minas Gerais Conspiracy.

The band Tuatha de Danann has released the lyric video for "Conjura," a track from their album The Tribes of Witching Souls , released in 2019.

The video was released on December 26th, the date that marked the last of the main meetings of the Minas Gerais conspirators, held on the same day in 1788 in Ouro Preto. “It’s a tribute we made to this very important episode in Brazilian history. The Inconfidência Mineira has everything: love, poetry, revolt, greed, betrayal, heroism, cowardice, and blood,” explains Bruno Maia , author of the music and lyrics.

The story is 230 years old, but according to the musician, the subject remains relevant: "It still has a contemporary significance for today's Brazil, the subservience to the great powers, the neocolonialism and sell-out that knocks on our door every day."

The video for “Conjura” was produced by Raoni Joseph and features classic paintings depicting the Inconfidentes, Tiradentes, and photos of important locations from that era. Watch it below.
