The acclaimed folk metal band Tuatha de Danann from Minas Gerais, Brazil, In Nomine Éireann via their website and social media. The CD serves as a tribute to Irish music and is scheduled for release in the second half of November by Heavy Metal Rock.
The cover illustration was done by Paulo Oliveira ( Coruja ) and the artwork by Rodrigo Barbieri . The band's vocalist, Bruno Maia, spoke about the cover of In Nomine Éireann :
“The artwork is inspired by Mucha's Art Nouveau and features a harp carved from a tree being played by a woman representing a goddess, the mother goddess of Ireland and the Tuatha de Danann, Dana or Danú. We actually see three women symbolizing the three faces of the goddess: the maiden, the woman, and the crone. The number three was sacred to the Celts, the people who inhabited Ireland, as it represented the past, present, and future; birth, life, and death, or life, death, and rebirth; the body, mind, and spirit, among other meanings.”
“The harp is still a national symbol of Ireland, what could be cooler than that!? A country's symbol being a musical instrument? Even more so, a musical instrument that denotes struggle!? Resistance against tyranny!? Ireland suffered the horrors of colonialism for centuries, it was a British colony, and for a time harps were banned and burned, and many harpists and bards were executed because they attributed magical and pagan powers to the instrument, in addition to many political messages being transmitted through singing accompanied by the harp. It all makes sense! Magic, politics, and music!”
Those who participated in the crowdfunding campaign to record the CD have already had the opportunity to see the cover and listen to the album beforehand, but the pre-sale campaign continues, giving the right to exclusive shows and behind-the-scenes videos of the album recording – in addition to supporting this beloved Brazilian band during this difficult time the world is going through.
