System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian has released the trailer for the documentary Truth to Power , a production of his company Serjical Strike Entertainment , in partnership with Live Nation Productions .
The production, which showcases Tankian's perspective on the intersection between music and activism, features appearances by his bandmates such as John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian , the band's manager David "Beno" Benveniste , producer Rick Rubin , filmmaker Carla Garapedian and guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine , perhaps one of the greatest synonyms for activist artist in music. Morello and Tankian even joined forces in the early 2000s to found the NGO Axis Of Justice , with the aim of fighting for social justice alongside fans.
“Music changes our intuitive parts; music changes how we feel about things. How we feel about things can override our logic. And our logic, being part of the process, can change the world. But it requires people to realize that they have the power,” Tankian says in one part of the trailer.
Truth to Power is scheduled to be released this week at the virtual Cannes Film Festival. For now, we can check out the trailer below.
