The band's latest album was the first with the new drummer

Paolo Gregoletto, bassist for Trivium, spoke about the band's new drummer, Alex Bent, in an interview with Midwest Beatdown.

"He's a monster. If you've seen us live, you know what I'm talking about, but if you haven't, you'll be amazed. He can play the craziest things, and then you look at him and he's not even sweating!"

According to Gregoletto, the new drummer has been an incentive for the band, "I think our energy on this tour has been very different from anything we've ever had (...) Having someone like him means going on stage and being able to do the show without worrying about the guy who's back there."

The musician also spoke about the songwriting process for the band's latest album, The Sin And The Sentence, released in October 2017. He recounts that the production took place between shows on the band's European tour, "We wrote six songs and went to Europe. When we returned, we wrote the other six."

Paul Wandtke left the band in 2017 after two years. The reason for his departure was never revealed.
