“River” and “Mele Kalikimaka” were the tracks chosen by Heafy.

In addition to his great work with the band Trivium, Matt Heafy always seeks to showcase another side of himself on YouTube.

With covers ranging from Tom Petty and Elvis Presley to Radiohead, Heafy showcases his vast knowledge and talent. Now, during the Christmas season, the vocalist has decided to give his fans two gifts: a cover of Joni Mitchell's "River" and "Mele Kalikimaka" by Bing Crosby, one of the most popular singers of the 20th century.

The musician says that this time of year is one of his favorites: “I love Christmas music. During the month of December, at the Heafy house we only listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies. It’s my favorite time of year.”

He also reveals that the Joni Mitchell cover was his wife's idea, “It’s a very interesting and sad song about Christmas. So I figured I should start there. I have several other covers of Christmas songs and I’d like to make an album (playlist on YouTube) with them. I hope you like it!”
