Trivium announced this Friday, the 24th, Alex Rüdinger (ex- Whitechapel ) will be their new drummer for their North American tour this year.
Previously, the band had announced Greyson Nekrutman , currently in Sepultura , who made his debut with Trivium on October 4th at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, and would then tour with them. The drummer replaces Alex Bent , who left the band earlier this month after nine years with the group.
Through a social media announcement, Trivium explained the situation and thanked Greyson. Read the statement below:
"Hello everyone. As we prepare to hit the road next week for our North American tour, we'd like to explain where we stand with our drummer. We'd like to sincerely thank Greyson Nekrutman for performing and killing it with us at the Aftershock festival. It was an honor to share the stage with such a powerful talent, and we are grateful to both Greyson and SEPULTURA for making it possible.".
Looking ahead to our North American tour with JINJER and HERIOT , and a new album cycle, scheduling realities made it clear that Greyson couldn't continue touring with us. There's only respect between us—Greyson is a humble, confident, and passionate musician, and we will always be fans. That said, we are excited to share that we have reunited with a drummer we've known for over a decade—Alex Rüdinger (ex-WHITECHAPEL). Fun fact: we invited Alex to join TRIVIUM nine years ago, but the timing didn't align.
Alex Rüdinger will be joining us on the tour starting next week and will be participating in our songwriting sessions for the next TRIVIUM album. We are very happy to finally share the stage with him and explore what awaits us. See you on the road.”.
