Trivium: Matt Heafy reveals that Metallica inspired him to compose metal music.

The musician also reveals which was the first song he played with Trivium.

Matt Heafy, frontman of Trivium, revealed to Music Radar that Metallica inspired him to compose metal music.

"The first Metallica song I heard was 'Enter Sandman,' which was also the first metal song I ever heard! It definitely inspired me to compose ," he says.

The musician was also asked about the first song he played with a band. “In seventh grade I participated in a talent show and it was my first time playing in front of people and I played 'Self Esteem' by The Offspring. In eighth grade I did a cover of 'No Leaf Clover' by Metallica and that's what made me pursue Trivium.”

Regarding the first song he played with the band, he reveals it was "Sic" by Slipknot. Speaking of memories and good music, the publication asked which track he would like to be remembered for, and he quickly replied, "Shogun."
