The trial against Gene Appleton , son of Liam Gallagher , and Sonny Starkey , grandson of Ringo Starr , accused of a racist attack and disorderly conduct in a supermarket, has been scheduled for its final hearing. This information comes from Louder Sound .
In May 2019, the pair were arrested along with their friend Noah Ponte after a disturbance at a Tesco franchise in London. According to the charges, a disagreement over the purchase of a drink after midnight, a time when the sale of alcohol is prohibited by law, escalated into attempted robbery, physical and verbal assaults against employees.
“You damn Indians, go back to where you came from. You are not welcome here,” Ponte allegedly told a South Asian employee of the establishment. In addition to the disorderly conduct charges, Gallagher faces charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated assault with racial slurs, while Starr's grandson is also charged with physical assault.
All defendants pleaded not guilty and will remain on probation until the trial, scheduled for March 28, 2022.
