The Imagine Peace Tower will be lit up today, October 9th, in honor of John Lennon . The musician would have turned 79 years old if he were alive.

Information was posted on Yoko Ono , announcing the tribute.

"Dear friends, today we will light up the Imagine Peace Tower in honor of my late husband John Lennon," the publication wrote.

The Imagine Peace Tower is a memorial to John Lennon located on Viðey Island, in Kollafjørður Bay, near Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, inaugurated on October 9, 2007. The work, by artist Yoko Ono, widow of the late Beatle, is also a symbolic monument to world peace. It consists of a tower of light, projected from a monumental white stone on whose wall is carved the expression "Imagine Peace" in 24 languages.
