Torture Squad , considered one of the biggest Brazilian metal bands today, returns to the famous Wacken Open Air 2025 festival. The event, held annually during the European summer, takes place in the small town of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Radio Rock website , this time the band will perform on July 30, 2025, thus becoming the only Brazilian band to play four times at the festival. The group first appeared in 2007, then in 2008 with the "Hellbound Tour," and in 2011 during the "Aequilibrium Tour." This year they return, heavier than ever, with the "Devilish Tour."
Furthermore, this will be their first performance at the festival with the new lineup, featuring Rene Simionato on guitar and Mayara Puertas on vocals. It's worth adding that Mayara, who took over vocals for Torture Squad in 2015, is one of the leading female representatives of the current Brazilian heavy metal scene.
Regarding this achievement, Mayara highlights: “2025 will be a great year for us! We're celebrating 10 years with this lineup, and what better way to celebrate than by returning to the biggest metal festival in the world!” She adds: “Since I joined the band, I've always wanted to play at Wacken. I know how much this festival has helped Torture Squad since our victory at Metal Battle in 2007. Now, almost 20 years later, we're back with more energy than ever and immense pride in representing Brazilian metal!”
In turn, drummer Amilcar Christófaro also celebrated the achievement: “I am extremely happy to be playing at Wacken for the fourth time! For Mayara and Rene, it will be a unique experience. Furthermore, being at this festival during the tour for one of the most important albums of our career makes everything even more special. And to our fifth member, Beto Bisca, I can only say: the harder we work, the bigger our dreams become. Wacken Open Air, just a warning… HELL IS COMING!”.
It's worth explaining the reference in Amilcar's amusing warning, which refers to the song "Hell Is Coming," the first single from the album Devilish . The song was inspired by the online game Diablo IV, particularly the character Lilith.
Wacken Open Air 2025
Wacken Open Air 2025 will take place between July 30th and August 2nd, and will feature Guns N' Roses as the main attraction. In addition to Axl Rose's legendary group, the lineup includes names from different generations and styles, such as Machine Head , Gojira , Within Temptation , Saxon , and Grave Digger . But unfortunately, all tickets are already sold out. This frequently happens at festivals, as ticket sales for the following year begin shortly after the previous year's festival ends.
Finally, Torture Squad will soon announce more dates for their European tour. Meanwhile, the group continues promoting their album Devilish , available on digital platforms and in physical format, with national distribution by Sound City Records and Valhall Music.
