Tormenta Metal Fest is a festival organized mostly by women from the Curitiba metal scene. The chosen venue was very well organized, with several exhibitors on the mezzanine and on the dance floor. The staff was attentive, and everyone was ready to help.
The event started around 8:30 PM and already had many people waiting for the cosplay contest, a show in itself. There were characters from anime, horror, gothic, video games, among others.
It was a warm night in Curitiba, which facilitated the sale of drinks and the number of people at the venue. But throughout the entire event there were no problems.
Themed fair
The fair was full of unique products; it was impossible not to love Liluski's geek/horror themed amigurumi, and the perfection of the decorative pieces from Siuni's atelier.
A highlight was the stand of the Arauqüeras professionals, with archery demonstrations, featuring unique equipment and giving anyone who wanted to try it out. A unique experience.
There was also a lot of fashion, with distinctive clothes from Fremd, and chain accessories from Biscuit Moon. Several groups of women from the city were gathered, wearing themed t-shirts of bands and also witches, offering tarot readings; everyone was very friendly and stylish.
In short, everything the public loves, including in terms of diversity, is on par with the fairs at international festivals. Just on a larger scale, of course.
Second FemMetal meeting
The Curitiba-based group FemMetal held its second members' meeting at the festival. Space on stage was provided for them to explain a little about this union of women in the capital's metal scene. All who wished to speak had their opportunity. It's also worth remembering that everyone is welcome to join FemMetal .
Sonoya and Fortell
The first band to take the stage was Sonoya , delivering symphonic heavy metal with the powerful female vocals of Solange Kuchnier . The group delivered excellent versions of Epica , Nightwish , After Forever , among others, and managed to get the crowd on the dance floor.
Fortell took the stage , an original band with a distinctive storytelling style of power/prog metal with a conceptual theme. But, especially at this event, they delivered a show paying homage to the classics of Angra and Kamelot . The band consists of Cinthia Mara on vocals, Gabriel Schneider on bass, Leonardo de Macedo and William Prigoli Esmael Marques on drums .
It's worth noting that there was also a special dark/metal fusion dance performance during the show, by dancer Morgwen Roni Sauaf , from the band Kattah joined Fortell for singing.
Cosplay Contest
Logically, the highly anticipated cosplay contest took place between the shows, complete with a parade and performance by the participants. And of course, the judges and the event's hostess, Gicca Pacheco , who has been working as a hostess in the Curitiba rock scene for 6 years, were present. Gicca was dressed as Zatanna, while the judges Jeniffer Rodrigues looked perfect as a Templar from the game Grand Fantasia, and Dani Coraiola looked marvelous as Kitana.
The final results of the contest were: 1st Jeff – Kratos; 2nd Gabriel – Hollow Knight; 3rd Thiago – K – The King of Fighters; 4th Maurício – Jason; 5th Filipe – Ghost; 6th Sofia – Catrina; 7th Emily – Cassandra.
Seyren and Legacy
Seyren 's turn , a band with an extensive history of shows, always elegant and high-quality, featuring the powerful vocals of Vanessa Rafaelly . The band also includes Henrique HK Pfeifer , Valdinei Tavares on drums, Guilherme Dáquer and Ian Schmoeller on keyboards and vocals. They captivated the audience with their version of "Phantom Of The Opera".
Legacy took the stage with their classic heavy metal. The band shared some members with the others: Gabriel Schneider , Anderson Soares on drums, Kevin Klaus on vocals, and Olek Nowakowski on guitars. There was something for everyone, including Black Sabbath , Judas Priest , Iron Maiden , and others. At this point, the crowd got quite excited, and some attendees who were leaving ended up returning to the dance floor.
The place transformed into a space for groups of friends to enjoy the show and, of course, have a cold beer. Considering it was already past one in the morning, some chairs arrived just in time.
Finally, for those who stayed until the end, it was a wonderful night to make friends and enjoy quality heavy metal from the local scene.
