This week, the Power Trio's sound features one of the great representatives of the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal": Saxon!

Leave other songs in the comments that could and should be here.

Rafael's sound of the week:

My history with Saxon is a continuation of a creative childhood: As a child, I loved playing with plastic action figures, staging shootouts and epic conquests. Fueled by stories of King Arthur and reading "The Mists of Avalon," the stories became increasingly creative, with higher quality plots and fewer battles.

In 1984 I discovered Saxon's album "Power & The Glory". I was blown away by the band's logo, the songs, and their themes. But little did I know that this album was from 1982, and that in the same year, 1984, they would release "Crusader," which, for me, is the best album in Saxon's history.

My stories reached a whole new level after this album, and that's why this is my pick of the week.

Daniel's sound of the week:

My life changed on April 8, 1985. It was the day of Viper's first ever concert (at the now-defunct Teatro Lira Paulistana, in São Paulo).

That night many remarkable things happened, and since almost 30 years have passed, my memory surely can't retain all the magical things that happened, but the main ones are clearly things I'll never forget: It was there that my "professional life" in Heavy Metal began, evolving into being hired as a roadie for Viper (my first job), culminating in the creation of Wikimetal, 25 years later.

That same night saw the debuts of Platina (the origin of Dr. Sin) and Viper, led by a 13-year-old vocalist, who played original songs and some covers such as Breaking The Law (Judas Priest), Countess Bathory (Venom), Night Of The Demon (Demon), Run To The Hills (Iron Maiden) and of course, the legendary Power And The Glory by Saxon. Literally unforgettable.

Nando's sound of the week:

Denim and leather, two words that summarize a bit of the Heavy Metal attitude: jeans and a leather jacket, or a denim vest full of patches over a leather jacket. Those who like this style don't mind the 40-degree heat; the feeling this music conveys is that of putting on your jeans and leather and going to the front of the stage to headbang at your favorite band's show.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing Saxon live, and the guys are in excellent form. This band lineup is impeccable, with Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt destroying on guitars, bassist Nibbs Carter and drummer Nigel Glocker showing what a heavy metal rhythm section should be like: precise and cohesive. Biff Byford continues to be one of the greatest frontmen in history, and Saxon deserves recognition as one of the great representatives of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
