Tool took their time but finally released the long-awaited Fear Inoculum , after a 13-year wait. The album was a success with music critics and has shown incredible numbers on the music charts.
Fear Inoculum reached the top of the Billboard 200 in its release week, knocking pop singer Taylor Swift off the top spot with her album Lover . This was the first time the group had reached the top spot and marked the best week for rock in over a year.
The achievement was celebrated by Tool fans, but criticized by Taylor's fans who quickly questioned which band had dethroned the singer and asked people to "stop listening to the group and go back to listening to Lover ".
According to Billboard , the album sold the equivalent of 270,000 copies. Of that number, 248,000 were physical or digital copies in full format. The remainder were through streaming platforms.
Tool is now preparing to tour North America, starting the shows in October.
