Tool could be the next big band to do a residency at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, according to drummer Danny Carey . In addition, rumors suggest that Metallica will also perform at the venue .

In an interview with Spiral Out Network, Carey revealed that the band “is perfect for this” and “has been in talks” with the arena's management, known for its imposing size and state-of-the-art audiovisual infrastructure. However, the artist stated that intense planning would be necessary for the shows to take place in their full potential.

“It’s a very expensive undertaking and it takes time to start making a profit. I think you need to do a lot of shows before you start making a profit,” he stated [transcription via Blabbermouth ].

The drummer also said that he recently took a tour of the venue. “I didn’t see a full show, but they took us to see the place. It’s incredible, man. Just looking around almost made me dizzy.”.

TOOL is also working on a new album

In the same conversation, Carey also stated that TOOL is currently working on the successor to Fear Inoculum (2019). "We're working on a lot of new TOOL music right now." According to the drummer, the goal is to release it in 2027.
