The band confirmed that a new album is on the way
"Who's ready for some big news? Hold on tight; get ready. Okay, here we go" —that's how Tool's highly anticipated announcement begins.
After numerous confusing statements from band members, an official announcement confirmed what fans were eager to know: recording for Tool's new album has begun!
The news was announced on the band's official website:
“We are very excited to announce what will surely be good news for TOOL fans and Progressive Metal enthusiasts in general. After all these years of composing and arranging (and re-arranging) in the band's loft, I can now officially report that the guys have moved into a large studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin. In the last few days, the band members have adjusted to the new environment – setting up equipment and choosing catering options from restaurants – in preparation for Danny [Carey, the drummer] to start his part any moment now – perhaps right now as you read this.”.
I'm also thrilled to announce that 'evil' JOE BARRESI will once again have his fingers on the engineering controls for what will surely be another masterful offering from TOOL by his talented team. Pinch yourself if you like, but I've been told that everything is set at this point for sessions to begin.
I will be posting snippets and bits of the process as soon as the guys get into a deeper phase of everything, and I hope you all keep checking the official website for updates. In the meantime, visit the band members' websites and social media for more news as TOOL prepares for the next step in their musical odyssey.”
The album follows 10,000 Days , which also featured Joe Barresi. Maynard James Keenan, the frontman of Tool, also has news about his project A Perfect Circle, which will release a new album on April 20th.
