Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan revealed that he contracted COVID-19 for the second time in late 2020 .
Apple Music 's Strombo program , the musician shares more details about his condition, “It was bad, really bad. I couldn't breathe. I could barely put two words together without starting to cough, you know? It kind of started to progress into pneumonia. So, if I stayed in the hospital, they said, 'Okay, we can keep you here, but you're fighting with 12 other people for a bed and a ventilator that we don't have, so what do you want to do?' And I said, like, 'Well, I need to breathe and I need to sleep.'"
“So, if you’re only treating symptoms at that point,” he continues, “there’s nothing you can do besides treat another symptom, so for a real cough medicine, not the bad over-the-counter ones, and then like a ventilator and some antibiotics to fight the pneumonia, and get it all down.”
“I knew what I went through and I know what I’m still going through, so I would recommend that you take this [the pandemic] seriously, but I feel that it will go in one ear and out the other with deaf ears,” he concludes.
