Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin recalled the time he was kicked out of the band to make way for Ronnie James Dio and revealed that he recorded some demos for the 1992 Dehumanizer

According to Martin, he was fired before the start of the sessions for the album, which came as a "complete surprise." However, Dio's return to vocals wasn't going as expected, and Tony Iommi contacted Martin twice asking him to come back because things "weren't working."

“They invited me to the studio while they were recording, so I went,” he says. “And I even tried some melodies and things like that, but they didn’t have much time, as always. I said, ‘If we’re going to do this, I need to rewrite everything. I need to get the material, sit down and work with it.’ They said they didn’t have time for that, so I said, ‘I’ll have to leave it to you. Probably the best thing to do is continue with Dio and we’ll talk later.’”

Tony Martin also mentions that he recorded some demos that weren't used and that he keeps some low-quality cassette tape copies as souvenirs. “I tried, but I couldn't make anything sound better than what they had done [with Dio]. And I have to make it sound like Tony Martin. It doesn't make sense to ask me to sing if you don't want me to sound like myself. At that moment I was thinking, 'I don't want to keep copying other people's things.'”

Tony Martin was the lead vocalist for Black Sabbath from 1987 to 1991 and then again from 1993 to 1997. In December, he released the solo single “ As The World Burns ,” which is part of his upcoming album, Thorns .
