headbanger 's heart racing !
Tony Iommi , guitarist for Black Sabbath , said in an interview with Guitar World that he has a lot of material ready to record.
When asked in the interview whether his new guitar, a 1964 Tony Iommi “Monkey” SG Special Replica from Gibson , would inspire new tracks, Iommi stated that he has a mountain of 500 riffs (!) saved up to be properly recorded, however, it depends on his music engineer, Mike Exeter , who “went off to do other things”.
Regarding the stack of 500 riffs, Tony says he was urged to release them by none other than Brian May , after May gave him some CDs containing the recordings. However, Iommi doesn't want to rush this process unduly.
Still in the interview, the legend recounted his journey of overcoming adversity after suffering an accident at age 17, in which he lost the tips of his middle and ring fingers on his right hand. “I had to try and make something work and go against all the people who said, ‘You can’t do that,’ the same with my accident, ‘You won’t be able to play anymore.’ And I didn’t accept that. I thought, ‘There must be some way.’”
