Tony Iommi says Black Sabbath may play their last show in July

Guitarist says he needs to get back to taking care of his health

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi said that the final date of Black Sabbath's current tour, at Hyde Park in London on July 4th, could mark the end of the band's live performances. Black Sabbath will be headlining the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival, playing after Soundgarden, Faith No More, Motörhead , and Soulfly.

“I don’t want it to be, but we don’t have anything planned in terms of shows after this. So as far as we know, it may very well be the last one.” Iommi, who is currently recovering from cancer, seemed tired of the tour: “To be honest, I don’t want to do long tours like this anymore, I feel very bad.”

The guitarist said that after the tour he will have to undergo further checkups to monitor the disease: “I have to check if the cancer is coming back, if it’s still there, or not. When I finish the tour I will do that and we’ll see how things go.”

Last year, Iommi revealed that he would like Black Sabbath to record one more album.
