During an appearance on Trunk Nation , Tony Iommi revealed that he is developing his new solo album . It was his first interview since Black Sabbath farewell tour on July 5th.
The musician [via Blabbermouth ] said he was already working on the album, but since Back To The Beginning came up, he had to shift his focus to the event.
“I was already preparing the album when the show came up. So, of course, I had to stop and concentrate on that. But I'll resume next week, trying to finish what I started. And then, who knows what I'll do?”
Tony Iommi also responded to whether the solo album will be in the style of Iommi (2000) , featuring a wide range of guest vocalists on the tracks.
He denied this, stating that he had already chosen a singer and that originally, the project was intended to be instrumental.
“No. At the moment, I only have one vocalist, and initially I thought about having several singers. Initially it was going to be an instrumental album, and it evolved into 'some instrumental songs', but then I thought: 'Ah, I want to try it with a vocalist'. And that's what I've been doing.”
In addition to his solo album, Tony Iommi reminisced about his participation in a Robbie Williams song.
Tony said he wasn't sure if "Rocket" would be a single. Soon after, he received an invitation from Robbie Williams to record it. The song became a huge hit on the British charts.
“Robbie wanted to make a video with her. Oh my God. It was great to do that. I can do different things when I want to and I’m enjoying it.”
