Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi had recently revealed that he would need surgery to remove a possibly cancerous lump found deep in his throat. Now, in an interview with Planet Rock, Iommi has announced that the tumor was successfully removed and it was concluded that it was not cancer.

According to the musician, the news was a Christmas present:

“I had treatment when I got back from South America, an operation on my throat. They had found a lump behind my sinuses, in my throat, and we had to check it in case it was cancerous. But in the end it wasn't, and I found out on Christmas Day, which was amazing. So I'm fine. I shouldn't say that. I'm probably going to fall down the stairs now.”
