"I hope he doesn't come back."
Guitarist Tony Iommi won Loudwire's Courage Award for battling cancer while on tour with Black Sabbath. Backstage at the awards ceremony, he spoke to the magazine and discussed the possibility of his illness returning.
"It's become difficult to travel since I received the diagnosis. I have to be careful. I love doing shows and being on the road, I love being in the band, I love playing for the fans, but there's another side to it: you can only do what you can do.".
"For me, this disease will never go away, it will always be there. According to my oncologist, it will probably come back. It's kind of hard to think, 'oh, that's good.' Every day is a victory, really. We'll see. I hope it doesn't come back, but you never know."
Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012 and has been battling the disease ever since.
