The new single from legendary guitarist Tony Iommi arrives this Wednesday, the 30th. Entitled "Stormwatcher," the track is driven by a characteristic riff from the musician who was the main musical force behind Black Sabbath.

“Stormwatcher” features a maritime theme, based on the story of a ship trapped in a storm, accompanied by a dramatic animated music video that brings to life the lyrics and images created by vocalist Jørn Lande. “It channels something that comes from within, something real,” explains Lande, describing how the lyrics tell a powerful story about struggles and suffering, as life navigates from birth to death and beyond. “We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crossing uncharted and sometimes challenging waters, always moving forward, keeping course through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and the desire for something new.”

One of the many highlights of this extraordinary album, “Stormwatcher” perfectly captures the dark atmospheres and intense passions that permeate From The Dark. Tony Iommi is accompanied throughout the album by Lande, who shares songwriting credits on all tracks, as well as bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil.

Co-produced by Tony and Mike Exeter, his longtime creative partner, co-writer, producer, and audio engineer, the album stands out in Iommi's impressive catalog.

From The Dark is a highlight in Tony Iommi's discography.

In From The Dark, Tony Iommi features Jorn Lande on all tracks, including songwriting credits, as well as bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. The album was co-produced by Iommi and Mike Exeter, his longtime creative partner, co-writer, producer, and audio engineer.

The result is a crystal-clear, vibrant, and monumental sound that envelops the listener in a modern yet timeless sonic experience. “It’s an album we really loved making. We’re not trying to prove anything, it’s a great album and it really rocks,” commented Iommi.

From the opening chords of “Over The Violent Sun,” with its classic, heavy, down-tuned guitar riff and Jorn Lande’s dramatic vocals, it’s clear that From The Dark is a standout work within Iommi’s impressive discography. The sequence continues with “Black Times,” a direct and merciless blow that leads into the explosive first single, “World Alone.” Then, “Beyond The Dead” shifts the pace with a solemn and somber riff interwoven with epic orchestration.

The existential questions present in Lande's lyrics, replete with dystopian imagery and reflections on the fleeting nature of human experience, permeate the entire album, especially in "Stormwatcher," with its nautical metaphors and dreams of new horizons. A central track on the album, it finds a parallel in grandeur and drama in "Death Wake," where music and lyrics vividly portray the cruelties of a life without love and humanity.

From The Dark will be released in various vinyl and CD formats.
