Yesterday, July 13th, the legendary Live Aid music festival celebrated its 35th anniversary Tony Iommi recalled some "surreal" moments from the event , including reuniting on stage with Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler , and Bill Ward for the first time since 1978. The original Black Sabbath was back, even if only briefly.
In an interview for Live Aid Look Back: 35 Years Later , Iommi said, “It was great. It was great to be with the guys again. It was a bit surreal, to be honest, because basically I was in the studio working. And it was a strange thing for me to come from the studio, and then suddenly, here we are, for the next two days, on stage in front of all those people.”
“We had never done that before. We always rehearsed for a show for a while. But in this case, it was a quick rehearsal of an hour or I don’t know how long, and then the next day, of course, on stage,” the artist revealed. “So it was a little tense, because you don’t know how things are going to be with the equipment and all that stuff. We hadn’t been on stage for a long time. You kind of have to just go for it and see what happens.”
Black Sabbath setlist for the festival included "Children of the Grave," "Iron Man," and they finished with "Paranoid."
