Tony Iommi joins the National Guitar Museum

Iommi will be part of the museum's board

The National Guitar Museum in the United States announced yesterday that Tony Iommi, guitarist and founding member of Black Sabbath, has become a member of its board.

The National Guitar Museum is dedicated to the history, science, and study of the cultural impact of the instrument. One of the board members said that Iommi will add knowledge and experience to the mission of promoting and preserving the guitar's legacy.

HP Newquist, the institution's executive director, said that Tony Iommi is one of the most important guitarists in history, as his style defined the sound of heavy metal for decades and influenced countless other guitarists.

Other members of the Council include Steve Vai, Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Bonamassa, and others.
