Tony Iommi , guitarist for Black Sabbath , hates the cover of the album Sabotage as much as most fans do, and explained how the group arrived at the final result.
In an interview with the website News in 24 , the legendary musician agreed that this artwork must be one of the ugliest of all time. “It’s abominable! We didn’t know it was a photoshoot for the cover, they just told us we had a session that day,” he explained (via Ultimate Guitar ).
In an impromptu performance, one of the band members made an unusual choice for their outfit. “Nobody was well-dressed, especially Bill [Ward], who wore terrible pants. He asked his wife if he could borrow some of her tights!” Iommi recounted. “And that ended up on an album cover. A complete disaster!”
Originally released in 1975, Black Sabbath's sixth studio album recently received a deluxe reissue featuring remastered versions of all tracks, a live album, and other bonus features. Additionally, the band released an escape room game to promote the new version of Sabotage .
