Machine Head fans : the band's original drummer, Tony Constanza , has died at the age of 52, confirmed Afzaal Nasiruddeen , a former bandmate in Crisis , who stated that his friend died in his sleep.
Despite being one of the founding members of the band, Constanza only played three shows with them, leaving before their first album, Burn My Eyes , in 1994, where she was credited with playing drums on eight tracks.
The musician explained his decision to leave the band in 2008 to Sick Drummer , stating, “I left the band because I was too young and new to drumming, especially the bass drum. And the band demanded a lot of bass drumming. Basically, with my own insecurities, I destroyed myself.”
Despite leaving Machine Head, this did not stop Constanza's career as a drummer, as she was part of the band Crisis from 1999-2011, and the sludge-metal pioneers Crowbar from 2001-2004.
Chris Kontos , who replaced Tony in Machine Head, mourned his passing and highlighted what a great drummer he was, adding that their legacies will always be connected through Machine Head.
Crowbar also expressed his sadness and praised his kindness and talent on the drums, as can be seen in the post below.
The cause of Tony Constanza's death has not been revealed.
Rest in peace, Tony.
