Tom Petty

Tom Petty: Unreleased material and rarities will be released in September.

An unreleased track was released to accompany the announcement.

Family and collaborators of Tom Petty have joined together to create a box set with four albums filled with unreleased material and rarities from Petty and the Heartbreakers . Titled An American Treasure , the work marks the musician's first posthumous release and is scheduled for release on September 28th.

To accompany the announcement, SiriusXM released a clip of one of the unreleased tracks from the album. “Keep a Little Soul” was originally recorded in 1982, and you can watch the video below.

An American Treasure will feature previously unreleased recordings, live performances, and alternate versions of Petty's classics, totaling 60 tracks. The material was carefully selected by his daughter Adria and wife Dana, along with former Heartbreakers bandmates Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell , as well as Ryan Ulyate , a longtime collaborator of the musician.

A two-CD version will also be available for those seeking something more compact and simple.

Tom Petty was found unconscious at home on October 2, 2017. A few months later, an autopsy revealed that he had died from an accidental overdose . Petty had spent years taking medication for body aches and pains.
