The musician also spoke about working with Chris Cornell
Tom Morello, guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and Prophets of Rage, revealed that there were no warning signs preceding the death of his friend and colleague Chris Cornell.
During an interview on the Wall Of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast, the guitarist was asked about identifying signs of depression and suicidal tendencies in people after what happened to Cornell: “There were no warning signs with Chris, it was a surprise. One thing we need to understand is that musician or not, we all need to be there for our friends and family, we always need to check on how the person is doing. What happened was a tragedy.”
He goes on to say that he loved Cornell and feels happy and honored that they worked together: “I still miss him very much. Sometimes I watch Audioslave records and think how incredible it was to be in a band alongside one of the greatest voices in rock history.”
Morello admits that he has been going through difficult times since what happened, but "friends and family are my support and have been helping me get better."
Chris Cornell passed away at the age of 52 in May 2017. The musician committed suicide by hanging himself after a concert in Detroit, Michigan.
