Tom Morello and The Bloody Beetroots release EP “The Catastrophists”

The project by the Rage Against The Machine guitarist and the electro-punk group contains seven tracks and several other collaborations

This Friday, the 18th, Tom Morello , guitarist of Rage Against The Machine , released his EP The Catastrophists in partnership with the electro-punk group The Bloody Beetroots .

The project contains 7 tracks. Among them is the previously released single " Radium Girls ," which features PUSSY RIOT, Aimee Interrupter, Mish Way , and THE LAST INTERNATIONALE.

The song tells the true and tragic story of four women who worked in a factory in Illinois and handled paint containing radium (a highly radioactive element) to make glow-in-the-dark watches. According to Morello, these women were encouraged to lick the contaminated paintbrushes to increase productivity and ended up dying of cancer, needing to be buried in lead-lined coffins due to the radioactivity.

“Every year I place flowers on the small monument erected in honor of these silent heroines, and this song is dedicated to their memory,” says the guitarist.
